Effective Wart Removal

Warts aren’t exactly known for their association with the finer things in life. While most warts don’t hurt to the touch, they can certainly be painful in other ways: skipping pedicures because of plantar warts, constantly covering up flat warts with makeup, dreading handshakes with unsightly periungual warts. If you’re tired of shying away from the spotlight, skip the ineffective store-bought, so-called “remedies” and find a solution that will last. Then, you can love the skin you’re in—no warts necessary.

Stop Warts at Their Source

All warts are caused by some form of human papillomavirus (HPV). Like all other viruses, HPV is contagious, meaning you contracted it from someone else—and can pass it on as well. While some warts go away on their own, the natural immune process can take years, providing plenty of time for them to spread to other parts of your body or to people close to you.

Treating stubborn warts—and preventing them from coming back—requires specialized treatment that you cannot find at your local drugstore. We offer a range of wart removal methods that quickly target various types of warts. We will determine what type of wart you have and develop a personalized treatment plan to stop it in its tracks.

Wart Removal FAQs

Warts are caused by an infection of HPV, of which there are over 100 different strains—meaning they are common and can be picked up almost anywhere. Most people get them through skin-to-skin contact, or contact with contaminated personal items, like socks, bath towels, nail clippers, etc. HPV can enter the body through even the tiniest cuts and scrapes, making it easy to get a wart from the floor of a public pool, locker room, or gym shower, as well.

Warts vary in appearance depending on what strain of HPV causes them. Some of the most common forms of warts that we treat here at Ganger Derm are:

  • Common warts: rough spots that are brown or yellowish in color
  • Filiform warts: long, tubular growths that protrude from the face
  • Flat warts: small, clustered warts that are typically flat and cover larger areas of the face, hands, or legs
  • Periungual warts: thick, encrusted patches around the nails, sometimes accompanied by splits in the skin
  • Plantar warts (and palmar warts): small, rounded patches with tiny black or dark red spots in the center, which appear on the soles of the feet (plantar) or palms of the hand (palmar)

In many cases, yes, though the process can take years. Because most warts only infect the very outermost layer of your skin, your immune system doesn’t notice or prioritize them right away. Sometimes, warts can be particularly stubborn, recurring or spreading in the time it takes for one to heal. That’s why it’s best to treat them professionally—you can get back to life free from the anxiety of unsightly warts and the fear of spreading them to those closest to you.
