Dr. Mathai received her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. She then completed a transitional year internship at St. John Hospital, followed by her dermatology residency at Henry Ford Hospital. Throughout her career, Dr. Mathai has held dermatology faculty appointments at the University of California, Los Angeles; the University of California, San Diego; and the University of Michigan Department of Dermatology.
